Guess What Adam just finished doing?!

That's right.  In this picture he had just finished preaching a Sunday morning sermon at CHBC.  I think, as this picture shows, it was probably a very good thing that he was wearing a suit jacket over his dress shirt. :)
I was so proud of my husband this last Sunday for preaching an amazing sermon on Psalm 125 (click on link to hear the sermon.. if it doesn't show up, it should come up soon)

"Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore.
The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous, for then the righteous might use their hands to do evil.
Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, to those who are upright in heart.
But those who turn to crooked ways the Lord will banish with the evildoers.
Peace be upon Israel."

God used Adam's sermon to remind me of the security that I have in him.  I was challenged to question if I am placing my trust in Christ alone for my security.  Some of the points from the sermon that I found to be particularly encouraging were: thinking about the scope of God's protection of His people (those who trust in him alone for salvation) that it is both now and foverermore; Israel's security rested not upon them remaining faithful to God, but upon God remaining faithful to them (our salvation is found not in doing good things and thus earning favor with God, but on Christ who has done good for us and stands righteous on our behalf); we are weak and powerless on our own and are in desperate need of the Lord; God's rule is secure.  It will never fade.  God will not allow his people to be overcome by evil. (even when we are weak, God is strong.  Even when the world crumbles around us, we can be confident that His is still in control); Christ is our peace and security.

Thanks Hubs for the work you spent on preparing for Sunday's sermon.  I thank God for the way he used it to encourage me in my walk with the Lord and I pray that he used it in others' lives to encourage them and challenge them in the faith.  I look forward to seeing you become a pastor who faithfully preaches God's Word every Sunday.  I am blessed to have you as a husband and will be blessed, Lord willing, to sit under your teaching when you become a pastor!

Whoever reads this blog, I would encourage you to listen to Adam's sermon and honestly ask yourself, "where are you placing your trust?  What kind of security is that providing you?"

Adam,
Your sermon was AWESOME and we're so proud of you! Steve and I thought you did an excellent job...hmmm...maybe we'll be seein' you guys in Colorado when you're done with seminary ;)
It was a great reminder that we are to place our faith in Christ alone, and nothing else, even when other things seem alluring. Thanks for bringing God's word to us in such a clear and succinct way.

Bro' Adam -

we ARE similarly blessed by your having done such an impressive job of preaching and teaching. AND, you did it under what MUST BE one of the MOST demanding forumns: the AM Service @ CHBC!!

Adam, we are sooo excited the way the Lord is leading you and Jen and Ethan into the next phase of your training / preparedness / Christian maturity and enablement to further serve the Lord.

Many blessings on your agenda to learn and be further equiped at Seminary. We ARE confident that God will reveal many more opportunities to preach / teach and effectively serve in His Kingdom work! Blessings on ya and "Best of Fortune" in this next BIG adventure.

Love, The Harrys
